Here you will find details of how we deal with all personal information and data. You will also find information about our mission to deliver our customer’s needs in the best possible way.
First of all, it is important to understand that we do not lend directly to the public. This is the biggest misconception we face as a business. People assume when they come to us and use our service that it is us that they are getting the money from. This is not the case. We are credit brokers. This means we offer a brokering service. We let customers apply through our system, and we then put them through to the lenders that we are linked with.
This makes us a great service to be fair. It means that lots of lenders are seeing one application, as opposed to just one lender – hence heightening the chances of being accepted for a loan.
Now that you have a clear idea of how we operate, we’ll get into the nitty gritty of how we look after the data and information that you provide to us.
Just before we do, however, please be aware that we take customer data and the safety of that data extremely seriously. As well as delivering a great service, we also strive to operate a tight ship when it comes to security – which is why you will find all data and information that is entered into this website meets the very highest security standards.
Due to the fact that we run a credit brokering service, it is inevitable that we will require customer information. The information that you give us forms the basis of your application. The information provided by you will then be sent securely, by us, to lenders who we are associated with who will then run through the application and decide if they want to lend the money requested.
Please be aware that while assessing an application, a third party lender may run a couple of checks to the Credit Referencing Agency – this should be a soft search, however, so needn’t harm your credit file.
Once you have been transferred over to a lender, we will then get rid of all data that you entered into our system. We do not store personal data on our system.
Please be aware, once you submit data in to our system, you are then basically giving us the go ahead to process that data in a bid to find you a loan.
This is basically legal jargon for saying that we have the right to use your data in a bid to do our job.
For example: the legal basis for using your data is that it is required in order to process a loan application.
We do not require any other legal basis, as we do not use your data for any other purpose.
Processing and collecting data
We only gather data from the information that is entered in the form on our system. We do not use legitimate interest as a legal reason for processing data.
Use of data
Yes, we use the data that you have provided to us. However, this is not for anything other than to give to lenders on your behalf. We use the data you give us and then transfer these details electronically to lenders who are waiting to see if they would like to enter into a loan agreement. After we have done this, all details you have provided are wiped from our records.
Recipients of data
It is a legal requirement that we tell you who can see a copy of your data.
There are only two groups of people who we pass data on to. These are:
- Authorised and regulated lenders (we do this to find you a loan.)
- Authorised and regulated credit brokers
We do not pass details on to anyone else.
We also only transfer data to the above organisations that are within the UK and EEA. We do this as the people and organisations that operate in these areas have to comply with the latest rules and regulations regarding data protection, and all should be registered with the relevant data protection authority for that country. We will do everything in our power to ensure that all our customers have the highest data protection from us.
Due to the fact that we do not store information once we have passed your details on to lenders, marketing is a non-issue for us.
However, if you actively opted ‘in’ to being contacted by third parties and third party marketing, we will have only passed your details on to the marketing people affiliated with us.
GDPR and your rights as a customer
GDPR has given you, the customer, many more rights – you now get to know exactly what is happening with your personal information.
One of these rights is the ‘right of access’.
This basically entitles you to obtain information that a company is processing your data, and also gives you the right to question the data that we currently have.
If you request this information, a company should strive to provide this information to you within the month and there should be no charge to the customer.
Rectification and erasure
Two other rights that can be exercised are:
- You have the right to remove data, and ask that this data isn’t processed.
- You have the right to ask for amendments to data if current data is inaccurate.
From our point of view, however, we would have nothing to erase because the system is wiped as soon as we transfer the data across to lenders, and this is similar for rectification.
We would exercise these rights for you if it were applicable to us, but as data isn’t stored on our website, we wouldn’t need to.
You also have the right to data portability, a right to object, and a right to restrict the processing of data.
As mentioned in our opening statement, we take our customer relations and the service we provide our customers, extremely seriously. We are proud of the service that we run and always put our customers wants and needs first.
Despite this, if you feel aggrieved by something that we have, or haven’t done, or would like to raise a complaint with us, then please do. All contact details can be found on our website and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can.
We always wish to solve issues directly, but, if you feel that cannot be done, then you are well within your right to take your complaint higher. This would be to our supervisory body – the Information Commissioner’s Office. Details are as follows:
Phone – 0303 123 1113
Live Chat – Via https://ico.org.uk/concerns/
Post – Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
If you do not wish to provide us with data, then that is absolutely your choice and your right to do so.
However, this would mean that we would not be able to do our job of finding you a loan. We require a certain amount of data in order to do the job of credit brokering –and this would be unachievable if we could not have relevant information. All information provided should be accurate as this could hinder any loan application.
Finally, you also have the right not to be subject to a decision that has been based on automated processing, and produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Your rights if you wish to go down this route include; obtaining human intervention, obtaining an explanation and then challenging the decision, and expressing a point of view.
We do not use ADM in any of our processing.
Cookies and web security
As already said, we are extremely passionate about data security and keeping all of our customer’s information as secure as possible. That is why our website is fully up to date with all the latest security features and mod cons.
When we transmit information to other lenders and brokers we ensure that the information and data is encrypted in a recognised method and the recipients are all registered and regulated.
From a customer point of view, there are things that you, yourself, could do to keep your data safe. We cannot, for instance, be responsible for an unsecure computer or web browser. This is deemed out of our control, and we would not be liable for any data breaches if it was found to be an unsafe machine that was in use. Please ensure that security is up to date at your end.
